Military News of Virgin Islanders – December 2008

Air Force Airman Kareem A. Pedro/St. Croix
Dec. 8, 2008 (Army & Air Force Hometown News) – Air Force Airman Kareem A. Pedro has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, core values, and military customs and courtesies; he performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises and special training in human relations.
In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Pedro is the son of Althea Pedro of Estate Whim, Frederiksted, U.S. Virgin Islands.
In 2008, the airman graduated from the Education Complex High School, Frederiksted.
Army National Guard Pvt. Daniel R. Stevens/St. Croix
Dec. 10, 2008 (Army & Air Force Hometown News) – Army National Guard Pvt. Daniel R. Stevens has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Knox, Ky.
During the nine-week training period, the private received instruction in drill and ceremony, weapons, rifle marksmanship and bayonet training, chemical warfare, field training and tactical exercises. He also studied armed and unarmed combat, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, traditions and core values.
He is the son of David R. and Elva N. Stevens of Barren Spot, Christiansted, Virgin Islands.
Stevens is a 2008 graduate of Central High School, Christiansted.
