Softball Inc Beat Seaborne Stealers, 18-16

Dec. 12, 2008 — The big game of the night Thursday in the Bob Owens slow pitch softball league was a battle between the league’s two remaining unbeaten teams, the Seaborne Stealers and Softball Inc in game two.
But when the dust cleared, it was Softball Inc standing tall above the rest of the league after knocking off the Stealers, 18-16. Softball Inc also looked the part of the best team in the league as they out hit the powerful Stealers, 27-17, in amassing their 18 runs.
Cody St. Pierre was the winning pitcher while Sam Ramos got the loss for the Stealers. Top hitters for Softball Inc were Antonio Cruz 4 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs and Paul Medlin, 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs. For the Stealers Owen Pimentel was 4 for 4 with four home runs and five RBIs and Enrique Soto was 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs.
Wyatt Heat 13, Salty Sailors 11
In the nights first game the Salty Sailors gave the defending champions, Wyatt Heat, all they could handle in trying for the upset; however the Heat was able to withstand the challenge to come away with the 13-11 victory. It was Wyatt Heat with 13 runs on 17 hits and three errors, while the Salty Sailors had 11 runs on 14 hits with four errors. James Smith picked up the win on the hill for the Heat, while Denny Denton got the loss for the Salty Sailors. George Knight led the Heat offensively, going 4 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs. He was well supported by teammate Tony Perez who was 3 for 3 with a home run and six RBIs. For the Salty Sailors, Gary Moore was 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs.
Speak the Word 18, National Guard Hummers 13
In the nightcap, Speak the Word Ministries got by the National Guard Hummers by a score of 18-13. It was Speak the Word 18 runs on 24 hits and three errors, while the Hummers had 13 runs on 15 hits with two errors. The winning pitcher was Ian Lewis while Jerry Vialet got the loss for the Hummers. Top hitters for Speak the Word were Kareem Dennis 3 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs and Raphael Almonte, 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs. For the Hummers Dennis Carter was 3 for 4 with two home runs and four RBIs and Mario Christian was 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs.
