As part of the celebration of American Education Week 2009, a Parents Day will be observed on Tuesday, Nov. 17, to give parents a firsthand look at their child’s school day, according to a press release from Daphne Williams, principal of Arthur A. Richards Junior High School.

“We will join the National Education Association (NEA) and thousands of schools nationwide in observance of the 88th annual American Education Week,” Principal Williams said. “This initiative (the Parents Day)is designed to spotlight the importance of parental involvement in a child’s education.” American Education Week 2009will be observed Nov. 15 – 21.
During the day, parents will be able to observe their children in class and speak with teachers. Report cards will be distributed to parents or guardians only.
