Brief: FirstBank Shutting Doors on Two V.I. Branches

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation approved a request from FirstBank to close two of its V.I. branches: the Grand Galleria branch in Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas; and the Estate Diamond branch on St. Croix, according to a statement from the V.I. Banking Board.
The two branches are scheduled to close July 30. According to FirstBank, written notice about the closings will be mailed to customers this week. FDIC regulations require 90 days notification. At the April 19 Banking Board meeting, FirstBank representatives said employees of the two branches will receive lateral transfers to other branches.
