Brief: Pedestrian Killed Sunday on Melvin Evans Highway

A man was killed early Sunday morning when he was struck by a car on the Melvin Evans Highway, police on St. Croix reported.
The Traffic Investigation Bureau on St. Croix is investigating the accident that killed 63-year-old Linton Gonzales of Estate Strawberry Hill.
According to traffic supervisor Sgt. Joseph Platt, the victim was near a guardrail on the west bound lane of the highway minutes before 9 a.m. A Ford Mustang driven by a 37-year-old man, not named by the police, was traveling west when he apparently lost control of the vehicle and struck the victim.
The victim was transported from the scene by ambulance to the Juan F. Luis Hospital for treatment, but later died from his injuries.
