Mothers Against Guns Inc. Walk/Run Slated for May 16

Mothers Against Guns Inc. and Jason Carroll Memorial Fund Inc. will have a Walk/Run Against Gun Violence at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 16. It will begin and end at the Coast Guard Dock, Waterfront and cover two miles. The motto of the organization is “Saving Lives… Reclaiming our Families, Schools and Community.”

Participants can pre-register at The Caribbean Surf Co. (Havensight and Waterfront) or Elizabeth Jane’s (American Yacht Harbor in Red Hook). Fees before race day are $8 for adults and $3 for youth ages 17 and under. Fees on race day are $10 for adults and $5 for youth ages 17 and under. Race day registration will begin at 2:30 p.m.
The divisions will be male and female age groups: 12 and under, 13-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 and over (parental or guardian consent are required for children under 18). Awards will include: prizes for overall winners; oldest and youngest runners; 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each age division; top school; top community organization. Free T-shirts will be given to the first 500 finishers and medals will be given to the first 500 finishers, also
The event will benefit the Jason Carroll Memorial Fund Inc., raising funds for its annual college scholarship. The race is sponsored by St.Thomas Radiology Associates, Fintrac Inc., Elizabeth Jane’s The Silver Source and Innovative. FirstBank is a donor.
