Two Arrested, Guns Confiscated

Two more illegal weapons were confiscated and two suspects arrested this week by police on St. Croix.

Rafael Munoz, 30, of Estate Mt. Pleasant, was arrested at about 6:40 a.m. Friday and charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm and contempt of court. Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives said Munoz was free on a pre-trial release in connection with another case when he was charged with the firearm possession. He was held without bail until a decision is made at his advise of rights hearing.

On Wednesday, May 12 at about 8 p.m. police arrested Leodel “Leo” Isles, 27, of Estate Adventure Hill, and charged him with unauthorized possession of a firearm. Isles was detained by members of the Saturated Patrol unit, Special Operations Bureau, while driving a vehicle in Frederiksted. Police checked the vehicle and confiscated a handgun with a laser scope, and a police badge. A firearms records check revealed that the handgun was previously reported stolen from a St. Croix resident.

Isles was held on a $25,000 and remanded into custody.
