Racing Fans Eagerly Awaiting Return of Cherokee Law

Cherokee Law (center) is slated to return to racing Sunday after a long injury layoff. The Memorial Day Handicap, featuring the long-awaited return of Cherokee Law, highlights TRAXCO’s races on Sunday. The handicap, the 7.5-furlong sixth race on the card, has racing fans eager to see Cherokee Law, who before being sidelined by injuries was on a four-race winning streak and looked well on his way to being possibly the top thoroughbred on St. Croix.
He will be looking to lay down the law on Sunday and picking up where he left off before leaving the track last year.
Cherokee Law will be joined by six others in the field of seven, which includes three newcomers making their V.I. debut. The debutantes are Sum Splendor (116) from St. Thomas, and United Deelites (114) and Mr. Moonshine (114), who will be racing for local connections. Formal King (118) comes highly touted and will be running his second race in the territory. He also came with expectations of being the next king of St. Croix and will be one of the top competitors in the race. Charlie Cho (116) and Black Jack Bob (116) round out what looks to be a very competitive race.
According to many race fans, Cherokee Law looks great in his recent works and could be hard to beat if ready after the long layoff. However, should he falter, look for Formal Cat and Charlie Cho to possibly be the ones in the winner’s circle. The word is still out on the newcomers; and who knows, one of them could be the next best thing to hit these islands and win this race.
