V. I. Missions Honoring Six Guardsmen for their Courage and Strength

Virgin Islands Missions Inc. of St. Thomas will host itssecond annual Community Recognition Awards Dinner at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 29, at the Marriott’s Frenchman’s Reef Beach Resort. The awards dinner honors the men and women in uniform who have given their lives for their country, veterans of the service and all who are currently serving in the military.

The theme for the 2010 awards is “Our Beacon of Courage and Strength.” The honorees are Virgin Islands National Guardsmen Captain Nina Clarke-Brewley, Master Sergeant Hillis Benjamin, First Sergeant Terrance Holland, Sergeant First Class Ewaldo Allen, Sergeant First Class Robert Phipps and Sergeant First Class Florinell Joseph.
“These brave men and women have defended our nation and risked their lives to protect the liberties that we enjoy. For these courageous acts we present this awards dinner which is a way for our community to say ‘thank you’ for the service you have given and the continuation of your services to our country,” said Reverend Dr. Bentley Thomas, president.
