District Reminds Parents to Submit Applications for Summer Program

The Virgin Islands Department of Education announces the 2010 Learn It! Summer Enrichment Program. The classes will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.,Tuesday, June 23 to Thursday, July 29, at various public schools across the district. Parents of students who received applications from their schools inviting their children to attend the free summer enrichment program operated by Learn It Systems are encouraged to return their completed applications immediately said St. Thomas-St. John Superintendent Jeanette Smith-Barry.

The five-week enrichment program is designed to help students grasp their reading and math skills through a series of interactive academic and entertaining learning activities. Enrollment in the program is at no cost to parents. It will reward students with good attendance and successfully complete the program. This program will also include field trips and other activities.
If the child is a public school student in grades 3-8 and has been referred for participation in program,the time to register is now. Transportation and meals will be provided.
For more information or to obtain an application, contact the child’s school or the Office of the Superintendent at 775-2250.
