St. John Police Nab Burglary Suspect Exiting Home

Police on St. John responding to a call of a burglary in progress were in the right place at the right time, arresting a suspect as he emerged from the window of an apartment.
At about 1:17 a.m. Tuesday, officers were dispatched to a burglary in progress in Estate Enighed. When they arrived they saw a man leaving an apartment through a window and arrested him.
Police recovered stolen merchandise valued at more than $1,700, including a laptop computer, a camcorder, a cell phone and an iPod.
The arrested man—identified as Ava Haywood, 28, a resident of the Tutu housing community—was charged with first-degree burglary. Haywood’s bail was set at $75,000, and he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending further court action.
