Services will be held on Friday, July 23, for Miriam M. Samuel Georges, age 61, affectionately known as “Miri” or “Georgie,” who died on July 13 in Orlando, Florida. She grew up in the Downstreet area and Pearson Gardens communities and resided most of her adult life in Sorgenfri. She joined the staff at the Department of Health, Dental Clinic in 1966 where she worked for 30 years.
The viewing will be held at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 23, at St. Andrews Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Western Cemetery No. 1.
She is survived by her children: Jacqueline, Liston II, Troy, Sean and Karim Georges; grandchildren: Liston III, Jaron, Janeva, L’Nique, Sean Jr., Nyssa, Amia, Sydni, Alaysia and Troy Jr.; surviving siblings: Ilva Jennings, Gladys, Roy, Hugo Harrigan, Karen, Fay, Calvin and Jennifer Jones. She was predeceased by two younger brothers: Kenneth and Clifford Jones. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, four daughter in-laws and many friends, each of whom she loved dearly.
