Estate Nadir Shooting Victim in Grave Condition

Police tape secures the crime scene in Estate Nadir after Monday's lunchtime shooting.A 21-year-old male is in grave condition after a noontime shooting Monday in Estate Nadir.
The shooting occurred at 12:07 p.m. in the first block off Bovoni Road, across the street from a popular lunch wagon, according to V.I. Deputy Chief Wayne DeGraff, who was at the scene.
Police directed traffic in the area for over an hour after the incident as drivers slowed to observe the numerous police vehicles and uniformed officers in the area.
Details of the shooting were unavailable as VIPD officers were canvassing the neighborhood, and otherwise conducting their investigation.
The victim was taken by private car to Schneider Regional Medical Center, where he arrived at 12:30 pm.
Describing the individual’s condition as grave, SRMC spokesman Sam Topp said that his prognosis was “nip and tuck.”
Police have taken one individual of interest into custody and are searching for others, VIPD spokeswoman Melody Rames said in a telephone interview.
The investigation is ongoing, and Rames was unable to confirm the number of shots fired.
