UVI Mourns Passing of Senator Lorraine L. Berry

Dear Source:

On behalf of the entire community of the University of the Virgin Islands, Alexander Moorhead, the chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University, and Dr. David Hall, the president of UVI, join the rest of the territory in mourning the loss of veteran Senator Lorraine L. Berry. Senator Berry was a great public servant who truly understood the value of higher education.
The university could always count on her whenever it sought the support of members of the Virgin Islands Legislature. In fact, over the past two decades, whenever the university proposed a major program or improvement project, Senator Berry was an enthusiastic ally. Be it support for EPSCoR, the UVI Research and Technology Park, or special appropriations for pay increases for university employees, Senator Berry stood in the balance. We are eternally indebted to her for her many years of public service and dedication to higher education. May she rest in peace. We send deepest condolences to the Ledee and Berry families.
