Man Arrested for Obstruction, Resisting Arrest

Garry Sprauve, 61, of Crystal Gade, was arrested Monday by police on St. Thomas and charged with resisting arrest and obstructing an officer.
According to the police report, Sprauve was arrested at about 8:50 a.m. Monday in the Estate Thomas area near the Value Foods Supermarket.
Police say they saw Sprauve driving his vehicle while talking on his cell phone and made a traffic stop. Sprauve, who refused to exit the vehicle, got into a verbal confrontation with the officers and resisted arrest.
Police also discovered that Sprauve had his .38 caliber firearm in his possession. Further investigation indicated that the firearm license was expired. The report did not indicate if Sprauve was charged with any weapons violations.
Bail for Sprauve was set at $1,000 and he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending further court action.
