Bernice Galloway Dead at 79

Bernice Galloway, also known as “Be” or “Gallo,” died on Aug. 14 at Schneider Regional Medical Center. She was 79 years old.

She is survived by her husband, Cecil Galloway; daughter, Angela Galloway McCants; brother, Edmond “Deplo” Steele; sisters: Leah Lettsome, Lucita Lewis and Norma Gottlieb; son-in-law, Theodis McCants Sr.; stepdaughter, Yvette Industrious; stepson, Melford “Whaler” Galloway; grandchildren: Joseph Oliver Williams Jr., Jamal Austin Williams, Janaye Olivia Williams, Theanna, Theodis, Amar, Amari, and Azari McCants; and step grandchildren: Deshawn and Kamal Adams.
She is also survived by brother-in-law: Edmund Brown and Eugene Gottleib; sisters-in-law: Ionie Caines, Gloria Galloway, Doris Powell, Glencia Steele and Sarah Steele; special nephews: Christian “Johnny” Gottleib and Raymond Lettsome; nephews: MacMillian Caines, Anthony Galloway, Eugene V. Gottleib, Rupert Lettsome, Rudel Lettsome, Robert Lettsome, Ruben Lettsome, Melvin Lewis, Alvin Lewis, Derrick Lewis and Dennis Steele; nieces: Ruth Lettsome Abednego, Italia Brunn, Debra Gottleib, Barbara McMillian, Rita Lettsome Osbourne, Elouise Smith, Nicaise Steele and Shamika Steele. Other survivors include special godchild, Anette Eastman; special friends and associates: Donna Davis, Sylvie Dawson, Naomie Donovan, Ethlyn Freeman, Evelyn Freeman, Aisha George, Deborah George, Leroy and Gerda Gottleib, Olivine Leerdam, Antonia Mulraine, Helen Rawlins and Ernestine Weeks; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
The first viewing will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 26, at the Davis Funeral Home Chapel. A second viewing will be held at noon followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 27, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Eastern Cemetery.
