VIWMA Reminds Residents How to Dispose of Green Waste

The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) reminds all residents that green waste or yard waste is not to be disposed of at the bin sites. Only household waste is accepted at the bin sites. All yard waste or green waste is to be taken directly to the landfills on St. Thomas and St. Croix and to the transfer station on St. John. Bins will be placed at the entrance to the Bovoni and Anguilla Landfills from noon on Tuesday, Aug. 31, to accept green waste only. All other waste, such as scrap metal, construction or demolition waste, bulk waste or white goods, is to be taken directly to the landfill.

If someone is seen disposing of waste illegally, please report it by calling VIWMA’s Compliance and Environmental Enforcement Division at 712-4956 on St. Croix or 776-4844, ext. 292 for St. Thomas-St. John-Water Island. Please note the location of the illegal dumping, the time of day, and the vehicle model and tag number when calling. You can also contact us at Report-A-Problem on the Web site at viwma.org.
For more information, contact the Office of Communications Management at either 712-4950 or 712-4951.
