A man who was beaten severely Sunday afternoon has died of his injuries, police reported Wednesday.
Police on St. Thomas identified the man as 34-year-old Kurwin Williams of Estate Frydenhoj. According to police, hospital officials told them Williams died at about 9:19 p.m. Tuesday.
Passers-by saw Williams at about 4:05 p.m. on Sunday being beaten by three men armed with a bat and sticks near the Frydenhoj Ball Park. The citizens called 911, and police arrived on the scene while the suspects fled the area.
Based on information from witnesses and the police investigation, an all-points bulletin was issued in the U.S. Virgin Islands and the British Virgin Islands for three persons of interest. Two of the three were detained in Tortola, B.V.I., and are presently charged with entering that island illegally.
Those suspects, brothers Curdilius and Guyus Moncherry, are persons of interest in the beating death of Williams, police said. The pair reportedly fled St. Thomas hours after the beating. The Moncherry brothers are natives of St. Lucia who live on St. Thomas.
A third person of interest is still being sought for questioning.
