The IAA Junior Varsity flag football season kicked off on St. Thomas Saturday with three action-packed games, including a rematch of last year’s championship between Julius Sprauve School and Charlotte Amalie High School.
In the first game, All Saints Cathedral School went up against Bertha C. Boschulte. All Saints was missing its head coach,Derek Gabriel, but assistant coach Hugo Hodge Jr. subbed in and led them to victory, 22-14.
In game two, it was Sprauve 20, CAHS 14, and in game three, Addelita Cancryn Junior High School ran over the Antilles Hurricanes, beating them 20-0.
The final game of the day was supposed to be Gifft Hill against Sts. Peter and Paul, who had to forfeit because they didn’t have a coach and only five players now that the volleyball season is under way.
IAA flag football commissioner, Dwayne "Juice" Maduro, said over the weekend that Sts. Peter and Paul will combine with Wesleyan Academy, Calvary Baptist and Moravian to form one squad.
