20-Year-Old Murdered in Grove Place; Territory’s 53rd Homicide of the Year

A 20-year-old man was shot to death at about 7:45 p.m. Friday in Estate Grove Place. The name of the victim is being withheld by police pending notification of next of kin.

It was the 25th homicide on St. Croix since the first of the year, the 53rd in the territory in that time.

According to the initial police report, 911 operators dispatched a patrol unit to a call of shots fired. When police arrived in the area they found a black vehicle with bullet holes in it but did not locate the victim at that time.

At the same time police were told that a gunshot victim had been taken to the Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital by private vehicle. Police were further advised that the victim died at the hospital.

Investigators are urging anyone who knows anything about this murder to call the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 712-6077, 712-6037, the Major Crime Bureau at 712-6075, 712-6035 or call Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-TIPS.
