2011 Territorial Spelling Bee Competition Slated

The V.I. Department of Education and the Virgin Islands Daily News present the 2011 Territorial Spelling Bee at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 11, on St. Croix at the Divi Carina Bay Resort. Top spellers, representing a total of 12 schools from across the territory, are poised to compete for the coveted championship.
Competitors from the St. Croix District are: Justine Arevalo of St. Mary’s Catholic School; Raheem Knight, Elena Christian Junior High; Kylah Braitewaite, Evelyn Williams Elementary; Michael Doliotis, Church of God Academy; Imani Evans, Pearl B. Larsen Elementary; and Maen Yusuf, Iqra Academy.
From the St. Thomas-St. John District competitors are: Quelania John Baptiste from the Gladys A. Abraham Elementary; Dy’Lante DeHaarte, Lockhart Elementary; Jalezcia Smith, St. Thomas Calvary Christian Academy; Silas Wisehart, VIMontessori and International Academy; Marcus Norkaitis, All Saints; and Aja Scott, Bertha C. Boschulte Junior High.
