V.I. Ad Group Hosts District Leadership Conference

The Virgin Islands chapter of the American Advertising Federation is hosting the AAF’s Fourth District Leadership Conference this weekend at Emerald Beach Resort, the group announced Thursday.

The local chapter, AAF USVI, is a part of the fourth district of the national organization, which includes 21 federations from across the state of Florida and the Caribbean.

“We are so proud to be able to host this district conference here in our hometown,” said Lisa Jamil, president of local club. “We have not had a district conference in the USVI since the 1980s, so this is a great achievement.”

The district conference begins with a reception at Carib Beach Resort. The reception is sponsored by the AAF USVI, the Caribbean Advertising Federation, and the U.S.V.I. Department of Tourism. The conference officially begins Saturday and is designed to bring together local presidents and district board members to share ideas and network.

The AAF USVI holds a variety of events and activities each year, including its glitzy signature event, “The ADDY Awards,” along with “Bowl-A-Rama” and the AAF Speaker Series Luncheons. The organization is also involved in the community, helping paint and renovate the Queen Louise Home for the Aged, and supporting the student Ad Club at the University of the Virgin Islands.
