Armed robbers hit two fast food restaurants, one Friday and one Monday, in what investigators believe are two separate, unrelated incidents, the V.I. Police Department reported.
The Subway restaurant in Estate Hogensborg was robbed Saturday and the Mc Donald’s restaurant in Estate Orange Grove was robbed early Monday morning. No one was injured during either robberies.
Police were dispatched to the Subway restaurant at about 9:30 a.m. Friday. Witnesses described the two armed suspects as one light complexioned Hispanic man and the other dark skinned, both with medium builds. The two demanded money, which was given to them from the safe. Witnesses said the suspects left in an olive green Chevy Cavalier.
At about 5:30 a.m. Monday police were notified of a robbery at Mc Donald’s restaurant. Witnesses said two suspects, wearing all black with black masks and gloves, entered the restaurant as the employees were arriving for work before the store opened. The suspects took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the area.
Police do not believe that these two robberies are connected, but said all leads in these cases will be pursued.
The robberies are being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives. Anyone with information can call detectives at 712-6037 or 712-6077, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-TIPS.
