St. Thomas Man Charged with Threatening His Mother

Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives arrested 19-year-old Leroy Rawlins on Sunday, charging him with third-degree burglary and third-degree/assault domestic violence, saying the suspect had threatened his mother with a firearm.

The V.I. Police Department reported Tuesday that on Oct. 17 Rawlins unlawfully entered an apartment in Tutu High Rise and that he returned on Sunday threatened his mother with a firearm in the same apartment.

Rawlins was also charged with brandishing and exhibiting a deadly weapon, possession of an unlicensed firearm, disturbance of the peace and possession of a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school.

Rawlins was arrested for both offences at about 5 p.m. Sunday.

His bail was set at $50,000 for the burglary charge and $100,000 for the remaining charges. He was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending further court actions.
