The Caribbean Fishery Management Council will hold a series of public hearings and scoping meetings to allow for feedback and suggestions to federal regulations addressing annual catch limits – and fishing closures if catch limits are exceeded. The meetings are designed to obtain input from fishers, the general public and local agency representatives on the draft comprehensive fishery management plans.
The discussion focuses on invertebrates, spiny lobster and queen conch resources of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
The public hearings and scoping meetings will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Monday at the Windward Passage Hotel in Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas. On St. Croix, the meetings will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Tuesday at the Buccaneer Hotel. Similar meetings will also be held in Puerto Rico.
