Man Fatally Shot in Kirwan Terrace

A 21-year-old man was shot and killed in Kirwan Terrace housing community Saturday evening, according to the V.I. Police Department.

The victim was identified as Shaquille Pierce. The incident, which took place at 10:13 p.m., was the 14th homicide on St. Thomas since the beginning of the year, the 245th in the territory.

According to the police report, citizens contacted the 911 emergency dispatch at and reported shots fired in the housing community. When officers arrived on the scene they found the unresponsive body of the victim seated in a chair at the rear of building 8.

Emergency medical technicians on the scene said Pierce had no vital signs. Staff at the Schneider Regional Medical Center later pronounced him dead.

The preliminary police investigation revealed that one or more assailants approached the victim and shot him several times. No suspects have been apprehended as of Sunday evening and detectives from Major Crimes are investigating the case.
