Governor, Do Something About the Noise

Dear Source:
Dear Editor, Dear Governor, Dear Lieutenant Governor, and Dear Friends; A crime is being committed in plain view and in plain sight of the police and others and they do nothing about it. Not only is this beloved “Old Lady” assaulted, she is being defeaned by the attack. We have spent years caring for her. We have spent many, many years looking after her. She is a darling to visit, still pretty at her age, still happy to let us sit with her. She was not well recently and so we the people along with your people, Governor, chipped in and fixed what was wrong. Now she is walkable and desirable once again. Yes! I am speaking of our Great Grandmother, our historic Christiansted.
Dear Reader, did you know that a great number of people live in town. Many of these people live or stay in downtown Christiansted. Some of these people live in the harbor, many live {stay} in the downtown Historic hotels. And they all move out as soon as they can. Why? Because a few greedy bar owners on the public boardwalk, which we taxpayers paid for, blast “their music” all night long. Yes, all night long! None of us would tolerate this outside our bedroom windows.
It’s outrageous!! Governor, I know you love St. Croix, and Lieutenant Governor, I know you too love our town. Gentleman you are both in charge of maintaining “the peace.” There can be no peace with blasting sound speakers till 3 or 4 in the morning. My Dear friends what shall we do to stop the destruction of our beloved Christiansted? We desperately want people to visit us and stay at our few remaining hotels. We want people to think that we are decent people running a decent civilized community. Yet we allow a tiny greedy few to destroy what we have spent years building. I have had some citizens call the blasting noise urban terrorism. Now I think this is going a little too far and it is not like Palestine or Israel with those bombs exploding but it sounds like terrible bombs going off every second of the night.
Governor, Lieutenant Governor, please help us stop this violation of decency. We do not wish to put these people out of business, but they seem to wish to put our Downtown out of business. The few should not be allowed to destroy us. In your elected power stop them. We cannot do it without you. St. Croix and Christiansted is our home and we are very proud of it. Let us make it a success so our grandchildren will also wish to be here.
Bob White, St. Croix
