Ambassador Todman’s Body Lies in State at Government House

The body of career ambassador Terence A. Todman will lie in state at Government House, St. Thomas, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 21, ahead of funeral services that are planned for Saturday, Aug. 23.
Gov. John P. deJongh Jr. will receive Ambassador Todman’s widow, Doris, and members of the Todman family on Thursday morning to mark the beginning of a public viewing for the Virgin Islands native son, who died last week at 88.
DeJongh, in a public statement on Todman’s passing said, “We have lost a tremendous individual and son of our soil, a person that made his presence known internationally but never lost touch with his roots and his home.”
To facilitate the public viewing at Government House, Government Hill will be closed to vehicular traffic from 9-11 a.m. and from 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Aug. 21.
In Todman’s memory, last week, the governor ordered flags on public buildings in the Virgin Islands remain at half-staff until sunset Saturday.
