Carjacked Vehicle Found Hours Later

A car was hijacked Saturday evening in the Harbor View Apartments area and recovered the next morning, according to the V.I. Police Department.

Police on St. Croix continue to investigate the carjacking, which occurred at about 9:15 p.m.

According to police, the woman victim told officers she and another woman were in her vehicle talking with the engine running. They were parked in the parking lot of the apartment complex. She said a man approached the driver’s side window and asked if he could ask her a question.

When the victim rolled down the window the man displayed a handgun and ordered her out of the vehicle. Another suspect on the passenger side of the vehicle ordered the second female out of the vehicle.

There was a third suspect also, according to the victims.

No one was injured. The police report did not describe the type of vehicle.

The suspects were dressed in dark clothing with bandanas covering their faces. They fled with the vehicle in a northeastern direction. Officers located the vehicle the following morning at Ha’Penny beach.

The Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives are following up the case.
