Wanted Man Surrenders, Charged with Murder

Stedroy Hurst surrendered to police Friday and was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Malik Davis, the V.I. Police Department reported.

Davis was shot to death Wednesday morning on the front lawn of a residence in Estate Work and Rest. Davis was arguing about a horse with one or more people when the shooting took place, according to police.

Thursday the police named 27-year-old Hurst a "person of interest," and issued a wanted poster for him.

Hurst turned himself into the police less than 24 hours later. He was formally arrested at about 9:30 a.m. Friday. He was held on $1 million bail and remanded to the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility pending further court action.
