Man Killed on Company Street Monday

A 54-year-old Hispanic man was killed Monday morning on Company Street in Christiansted, according to the V.I. Police Department.

It was the 15th homicide on St. Croix since the start of the year, the 31st in the territory.

Police did not identify the victim, pending notification of next of kin.

According to police, the homicide took place about 4:30 a.m. Officers responding to reports of a fight in progress arrived to find the victim lying unresponsive on the ground on the northern side of the building.

Major Crimes division detectives said the victim appeared to have injuries to his head. Emergency medical technicians said the victim had no vital signs.

Officers interviewed several people in the area and collected evidence at the scene.
