VIPD Issues Reminder of Good Friday Liquor Restrictions

The V.I. Police Department on Tuesday reminded Virgin Islanders of restrictions on the sale and service of alcoholic beverages on Friday, which is Good Friday in the Christian calendar.

In a news release issued Tuesday, the department said that "the serving of distilled liquor and alcoholic beverages shall not be served in public places of refreshments such as bars, taverns and restaurants between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday, March 25, 2016, for Good Friday."

The statement, sent out by VIPD media specialist Sakeeda Freeman, said that establishments that violate the law can be fined $200 or imprisoned for as long as one year.
