Eliminate ‘Politricks’

Dear Source:
In 1998, the binders of the VI Election System, exceeding capacity, were overflowing with the thousands of Voter Registration Cards. The Supervisor of Elections asked the Legislature to address the problem, and it legislated the purging of voters. A Voter’s Registration is cancelled when the voter fails to vote in two general elections. 18 VIC 5, £ 116. The legislation was intended to control the overflowing number of voter cards to be stored by the Election System.
Later with technology, the VI Election System purchased E-Books. Virgin Islanders Voter’s Registration information is stored on the VI Election System E-Books, but the system continues to disenfranchise VI voters, removing the names of Virgin Islanders after every General Election even though the concern for capacity has been eliminated.
The 29th and 30th Legislature consisted of a Democratic Party majority and were asked to repeal the language to stop the "purging" of the Voter Registration list. The sitting 31st Legislature was asked to stop the purging. It is also made up of a majority of the Democratic Party who claim Election Reform. There has been no mention of the purging of the Voter Registration List. The representative leader of the reform had assured citizens at a town meeting that he supported the repeal of the purging, but there’s been no legislative action to support that statement.
Conclusion: the VI Democratic Party supports liberty, but not equality in citizen’s right to vote.
