New Concessions Operator Selected for Cinnamon Bay, Trunk Bay Areas

Virgin Islands National Park officials have announced that Redwood Parks Company LLC has been selected to provide commercial services at Cinnamon Bay and Trunk Bay under the terms of a new 15-year concessions contract effective Oct. 1.
The selection of a concessioner to operate Cinnamon Bay and Trunk Bay is the result of a competitive process that is required by the National Park Service Concessions Management Improvement Act of 1998. An interdisciplinary team of NPS professionals from across the nation reviewed, analyzed and rated the proposals to ensure that the selected concessioner was capable of providing the best experience for visitors and best protections of park resources.
“Redwood Parks Co. operates outdoor adventure and resort destinations and municipalities, state parks, national parks and tribal parks. In the U.S. Virgin Islands, we’ll look to the National Park Service, local residents and current employees for guidance on how to be a good steward and member of the community. Cinnamon Bay and Trunk Bay are magnificent destinations that will benefit tremendously from new facilities and improved services,” said Brian Stewart, founder and president of Redwood Parks Co.
The award of this new concessions contract concludes 46 years of service by Caneel Bay, the current operator of Cinnamon Bay Campground and the Trunk Bay Snack Bar and Gift Shop.
Caneel Bay will continue to operate the commercial services at both Cinnamon and Trunk Bays until Sept. 30. In the near future, the park will announce a 2016 winter season re-opening date for the Cinnamon Bay operation, which historically closes during the months of September and October.
