Labor Has Scotiabank Participate in LIFT Program for Young People

Scotiabank volunteers participated in a Financial Literacy Workshop hosted by the Virgin Islands Department of Labor (VIDOL). The workshop, entitled “Avoiding Financial Errors,” was open to young people ages 18 – 25, who participated in this year’s Labor Investing for Tomorrow (LIFT) program.
The LIFT Summer Internship Program was designed by DOL to provide meaningful work and internship experiences for college juniors, seniors and graduates in the territory. Since its inception in 1989, the program matches its participants with prospective employers who can supplement their educational interests with a hands-on internship experience and networking opportunities.
“To be on the receiving end of the presentation, the topic and the presenters from Scotiabank were informative and engaging,” said Kadeem Hendrickson, 2016 LIFT coordinator. He further noted that the financial information resonated well with the interns. “The financial tactics presented proved to be timely as the interns are currently participating in paid work experiences. The Department of Labor prides itself on our healthy collaboration with Scotiabank in facilitating bi-monthly financial literacy workshops for customers.”
