V.I. Department of Health to Honor Mothers Who Breastfeed

In recognition of August as National Breastfeeding Month, the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Division of the Department of Health will host events on all three islands to honor and educate mothers in the territory who breastfeed.
The ceremonies will be held:
St. Croix – 10 a.m. to noon, Monday, Aug. 15, in the WIC Clinic, Charles Harwood Complex
St John — 10 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, Aug. 24, Morris De Castro Clinic
St Thomas – 10 a.m. to noon, Thursday, Aug. 25, in the WIC Clinic, Tutu Park Mall
Presentations and videos will be shown to inform moms on the long-term benefits of breastfeeding for infants and young children. Activities such as games and door prizes will be enjoyed by attendees. Every mother who participates will also receive a gift bag and a Certification of Appreciation. One of the highlights of the event will be the featuring of food from WIC resources, providing a visual example on how moms can use WIC foods to maintain a nutritional diet for themselves and their babies.
Mothers and mothers-to-be are invited to the event.
