Reichhold Center to Kick-Off 38th Season With Brandy

BrandyThe Reichhold Center for the Arts will open its gates for its 38th season with Grammy Award singer and actress Brandy. “Join us at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Reichhold Center and help us celebrate our 38th birthday,” said Denise Humphrey of the Reichhold Center for the Arts.
Since emerging with her three-time, platinum, self-titled debut album in 1994 – released when Brandy was only 15-years-old – this trail-blazing pioneer has sold over 40 million albums worldwide. She released, “Never Say Never,” her five platinum selling album in 1998. Brandy is ranked as one of the best-selling female artists in American music history by the Recording Industry Association of America.
Brandy has earned many awards including a Grammy, an American Music Award, two Soul Train Music Awards, two NAACP Image Awards, three Billboard Awards, four MTV Awards, six Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards, two Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards and three Broadcast Music Inc. Awards.
The Virgin Islands’ own songstress Kenya Eugene will be the opening performer for Brandy. She has performed on stage with Wyclef Jean, R. City, Morgan Heritage and, most recently, at Reichhold with India Arie, closing out a historic performance with a standing ovation. Eugene stands out because of her the ability to seamlessly compose and perform diverse genres of music including, but not limited, to R&B, reggae, jazz, dance and pop.
The evening will be capped off with one of the Reichhold Center’s famous after parties, featuring music from local disc jockey Tony T of 105 Jamz.
The Center’s 38th season is sponsored by International Capital and Management Company, VI Lottery, Innovative, Marriott’s Frenchman’s Reef Beach Resort, FirstBank and the VI Council on the Arts. Event sponsorship also comes from Choice Wireless, Southern Glazer, TIA Associates and BVI Tourism.
