Governor Proclaims Administrative Leave for Day After Thanksgiving

Gov. Kenneth Mapp wishes all residents of the Virgin Islands a Happy Thanksgiving for 2016. In recognition of the Thanksgiving holiday, he has issued a proclamation providing for administrative leave for all nonessential Government of the Virgin Islands (GVI) employees on the Friday following the holiday.

In his proclamation Mapp said, “The holiday season is upon our territory, and we all look forward to the gathering of family and friends on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 24, 2016. I would like to extend that holiday and grant administrative leave on Friday, Nov. 25, 2016.”

The governor’s proclamation authorizes commissioners and agency heads to grant administrative leave to non-essential employees working in the Government of the Virgin Islands.

Gov. Mapp encourages all families to reflect on their most cherished memories and in the spirit of the Thanksgiving holiday to spend quality time building strong bonds with friends and family.
