DPNR Closes Sprauve Library for $2 Million Renovation

The V.I. Department of Planning and Natural Resources (DPNR) informs the public that it has received Notices to Proceed for the first phase of library renovation infrastructure projects totaling nearly $2 million from the Office of Insular Affairs’ (OIA) Capital Improvement Project (CIP) Program.

Effective immediately, the Elaine Ione Sprauve Public Library will be temporarily closed for infrastructure renovations and repairs, according to a press release issued Thursday by DPNR.

The extensive renovation includes repair and repainting of oxidized shutter hardware; repair of cracked masonry at main entrance and southeast corner walls; repair of broken wooden flooring areas; repointing cracked staircase bricks; stabilization of interior staircase railing; first floor brick pointing and cleaning; and ADA bathroom renovation and upgrade.

Throughout the various phases of the renovation projects, DPNR will update the public of duration of closures.
