Because managing the finances of a small business can be challenging, UVICELL Center will be offering a course to help small businesses manage their payroll effortlessly and efficiently. The class, Understanding Payroll, will be held 6-9 p.m. on Tuesdays starting Feb. 21. Sessions will be held at the UVICELL Center on the St. Thomas Campus.
The course will provide a basic understanding of the payroll process. Participants will learn about the payroll and accounting terms and functions related to calculating hourly and salary wages, calculating FICA, Federal Income Tax withholding, processing payments to employees, preparing and filing payroll tax forms and making tax deposits. Additionally, the course will provide a basic overview of preparing payroll using an efficient tool like QuickBooks.
