Isaiah D. Rodgers, 28, was returned to the U.S. Virgin Islands on Wednesday. Rodgers was extradited on a charge of murder in the first-degree in a March 2016 homicide in Estate Castle Coakley.
The V.I. Police Department said that on March 11, 2016, Rodgers went to the home of the victim, 36-year-old Darien Griffith, called him outside and fatally shot him. This incident took place the vicinity of Thomas Bakery.
According to the police report at the time, officers responding to a 911 call at 8:06 p.m. found Griffith lying on the ground, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency medical technicians immediately transported him to the Juan F. Luis Hospital, where he later died of his injuries.
Police located Rodgers in Sanford, Fla. They secured a warrant and contacted the Sanford Police Department, which detained him.
No bail has been set for Rodgers pending his advice of rights hearing.
