The Sathya Sai Center of St. Thomas (Region 3) heard there was a need, and the Schneider Regional Medical Center became the grateful recipients of a donation of 29 blood pressure cuffs.
The checking of blood pressure is an important part of assessing the overall health of patients and is done as part of daily patient care. Because blood pressure cuffs are so frequently used, hospitals need to replace them often. The center has provided cuffs in a variety of sizes that will allow the hospital to replace cuffs in the pediatric, medical/surgical and emergency departments along with the intensive care unit of the hospital.
The Sathya Sai Center, which is an organization under the umbrella of the India Association of the Virgin Islands, has made it its business to help those in need on St. Thomas. Each year, they make donations of toys to children in the community. Members visit monthly with residents of Yellow Cedar, Nana Bay Home and the Elder Shulterbrandt Home. Their community service also includes meals for the homeless, which they prepare and provide every other month.
