Woman Raped at Gunpoint

A woman was raped at gunpoint Thursday while walking to her car in the gravel parking lot across the street from the tennis courts in Cruz Bay, the V.I. Police Department reported Tuesday.

According to the police report, officers traveled at about 6:45 p.m. Friday to the Myrah Keating Smith Clinic in regard to a report of a rape. At the clinic they met the victim, who told them that the previous evening, at about 11:30 p.m., she had been walking to her vehicle when a man approached behind her.

The man held a gun to her head, she told police, and told her if she didn’t do what he says he would hurt her. The woman said the man then pushed her to the ground, raped her and fled in an unknown direction on foot.

Police urged anyone with any information regarding this crime or any crime in the territory to call the VIPD at 340-774-2211, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-714-9807, the 911 emergency call center, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
