2017 Territorial Spelling Bee Slated for March 30

The V.I. Department of Education invites the community to the 44th Annual Territorial Spelling Bee, which will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 30, at John H. Woodson Jr. High School Auditorium on St. Croix.

The territory’s top 12 spellers will compete for the championship title and the opportunity to represent the U.S. Virgin Islands at the 90th Scripps National Spelling Bee, May 28 through June 6, in Washington, D.C.

The Virgin Islands Daily News is the sponsor of the Territorial Spelling Bee.

V’Andre Rochester of Bertha C. Boschulte Middle School, St. Thomas-St. John

Z’Qi Chapman of Church of God Holiness Academy, St. Croix

Joshua Morgan of Gladys Abraham Elementary School, St. Thomas-St. John

Michael Atwell of Good Hope Country Day School, St. Croix

Makayla Todman of John H. Woodson Jr. High School, St. Croix

Waniya Baig of Lockhart Elementary School, St. Thomas-St. John

Carmindy Pickering of Pearl B. Larsen Elementary School, St. Croix
