The State Family Program Office (SFPO) of the Virgin Islands National Guard will host its annual volunteer workshop and recognition ceremony on St. Croix from Friday, May 5 to Sunday, May 7, at Divi Carina Bay Resort.
This year’s theme, “Maintaining a Consistently Top Performing Force Through Teamwork,” focuses on maintaining the Family Readiness Group (FRG), developing a work plan for its sustainment, as well as acquiring the tools to assist families during emergency family assistance operations.
The attendees, including military volunteers and staff, will be trained on effective FRG sustainment during peace time, pre-deployment and post-deployment phases, blended retirement system, financial readiness and Family Assistance Center operations.
On Saturday, May 6, the SFPO will host its Annual Awards and Recognition Ceremony, a formal event opened to the VING community. VING will recognize its volunteers, who were nominated by their peers, unit commanders and family program staff. The highlight of the event will be The Adjutant General’s Award presented in 14 categories.
Four individuals and three units will receive honorable mentions for their commitment and dedication to the State Family Program and consistent performance in achieving the National Family Readiness Criteria, respectively.
