V.I. Energy Office to Host Energy Efficiency Training for Government, Commercial Buildings Industry Professionals

The Virgin Islands Energy Office (VIEO) will host a series of two-day energy conservation, operations and maintenance training for government and building industry professionals in each district. The customized training will be facilitated by Southface Energy Institute (SEI) and will address best energy practices in both public and private facilities.

Trainings will be held at the following locations:

  • St. Thomas – July 17-18 at University of the Virgin Islands
  • St. Croix – July 20-21 at Department of Education – Curriculum Center

The training will highlight best practices in heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), lighting efficiency standards, preliminary energy audits, consumption data monitoring, water heating efficiency and other related topics. All topics will be presented by a certified interstate renewable energy council (IREC) master trainer and project manager.

Upon completion, participants will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the performance of whole-building energy assessments and the ability to develop energy efficiency solutions for the health and safety of a building and its occupants. Participants that attend the entire course will be eligible for a certificate of completion.
