V.I. Parole Board Schedules Parole Hearings

The Virgin Islands Parole Board (Board) will convene over the course of several days, beginning next month, to hear testimonies from persons for and against inmates incarcerated at various penal institutions, according to a press release from the Department of Justice, Office of Attorney General Claude E. Walker.

          During the following days, the board will be meeting at the Golden Grove Correctional Facility on St. Croix; it will be taking statements from persons for and against inmates at the following correctional facilities: Dec. 8 for inmates at the Golden Grove Correctional Facility; Jan. 12, 2018, for inmates at the Citrus County Detention Center in Lecanto, Fla., inmates at the Central Arizona Florence Complex in Florence, Ariz. and those at the Keen Mountain Correctional Facility in Oakwood, Va.  All morning meetings will start at 8 a.m.; the afternoon sessions will start at 12:30 p.m.

          The Board will also interview the following inmates:

Friday, Dec. 8, 2017 — inmates at the Golden Grove Correctional Facility

Angel Medina                        Burglary first degree (2 counts); kidnapping; burglary second degree; parole violation

Edgardo Ortiz, Jr.                  Assault 3rd degree (4 counts); unauthorized possession of an unlicensed firearm; parole violation     

Eric Miller                             Murder 2nd degree; assault 3rd Degree; possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a crime of violence; parole violation

Michael James                       Burglary 1st degree; unlicensed possession of a firearm; parole violation

Brian Johnson                       Robbery 1st degree (7 counts) and possession of a machine gun; parole violation

          The Board will also be traveling to the mainland to conduct parole hearings for the following inmates at the following prisons:

Aurelio Rivera                       Robbery 1st degree/principals; Assault 1st degree/principals; unauthorized use of a vehicle; carrying or using a dangerous weapon during the commission of a crime of violence

Kyle Woods                          Burglary 3rd degree

Elijah Smith                           Unauthorized possession of a firearm

Anyone interested in giving information to the Board or testifying at the hearing must submit written comments to the Board or advise the Board of his/her desire to appear and testify.  Such notices must be received by the Board at least three days prior to Dec. 8, 2017.  Written comments or requests to testify should be addressed to:
