The victim of a fatal shooting that took place Thursday in Estate Hogensborg, Frederiksted on St. Croix has been identified as 23-year-old Robert Courtney Bascus, the VIPD Criminal Investigations Bureau announced.
Bascus was identified by his mother.
Police had discovered the body of an unresponsive black male shortly after midnight Thursday but the body had no identification on it. The V.I. Police Department issued a call to the community, providing a full description of the victim including the clothes he was wearing, asking for help in putting a name to the deceased.
Police have urged anyone with any imformation about the shooting to call the CIB tipline at 1-469-475-3871, the police at 1-340-778-2211, the 911 call center, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
