Police Investigate Rape in Altona Lagoon

A woman told the V.I. Police Department that she had been the victim of a rape that took place at about 11:50 p.m. Saturday at Altona Lagoon in Christiansted.

The woman told officers she had been in Christiansted, going to meet with friends, when a “tan-colored” man met her and started a conversation. He offered her a ride, telling her he could drop her off to meet with her friends.

The man then took her to the Altona Lagoon area and sexually assaulted her. Police are reporting the case as a first-degree rape.

Police urged anyone with information on the incident to contact the VIPD Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340 778-2211, the 911 call center, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
