Without any fanfare, the V.I. Elections Board on Wednesday certified the Aug. 4 Democratic primary results, picking up the last signature needed to complete the process.
The final results were unchanged from the preliminary return on election night, with gubernatorial candidate Albert Bryan and his running mate Sen. Tregenza Roach capturing the party’s nomination for the November election.
Monday, the board was able to get seven out of eight signatures needed by law for certification, and board chair Arturo Watlington, Jr., said he was confident the process would wrap up by Thursday, once all of the original documents were transported to St. Croix.
Board member Maurice Donovan was the last member to sign on this week, joining Watlington and members Raymond Williams, Lisa Harris-Moorhead and Glenn Webster from St. Croix, and Alecia Wells, Lydia Hendricks and Robert “Max” Schanfarber from St. Thomas-St. John.
Along with copies of the write-in candidate list, a final listing of primary elections winners was also sent out by the Elections System office Monday afternoon. Despite recount requests filed by Sen. Bryan Smith and St. Croix Senate candidate Nemmy Williams-Jackson – which were denied by the board – and a residency challenge against St. Croix Senate candidate Allison DeGazon, which was also dismissed, winners in each category remain unchanged and are as follows:
